It’s likely to drag on those who subscribed for a monthly basis just to watch the show – this way to watch it in entirety, they’ll stay for 2 months.

That’s probably true, but it doesn’t change the fact that the people sending these reviews are doing so with the misguided intention to “send a message,” and the showrunner did indeed receive and respond to said message, so it did actually work.
