Yes, Reader, there are comprehension issues involving ebooks, and not all of them involve multitasking. In the end, I think, there are two solutions. One will be improved technology, such as better contrast ratios in E Ink and equivalents. But for now, smarter reading practices could go a long way. So many people are tempted to rush through ebooks, when actually they would benefit by slowing down. They might also want to consider more searching and less page flipping to keep track of complicated books.

Could multitasking help explain this?

I imagine a lot of people multitask with audiobooks. Menial household tasks, driving a car…..

Audiobooks, I do not do. Tried but if listening while driving I lose the thread of the story, back up, lose the thread over and over again.
