Come on, Rakuten is trying to be exactly that, an ecommerce behemoth, just like Amazon.

Perhaps it’ll expand its discount-on-E-if-you-own-the-paper-edition arrangement to include paper books bought elsewhere–just like Shelfie. Would it be that hard for Amazon to come up with a similar app? Including something for surveying pbook shelves?

Meanwhile as a Kobo ereader owner, I’m delighted by the news.
